Workforce Professionals: Training Institute
The Organization

History of WPTI

The Workplace Professionals Training Institute (WPTI) was founded through the collective efforts of Public/Private Ventures (P/PV), the New York City Employment and Training Coalition (NYCETC), and the New York State Association of Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP). These organizations are leading workforce development technical assistance providers that saw the clear need to provide high-quality training for the front-line and managerial staff responsible for helping New York City's never-employed and under-employed to find and keep jobs.

WPTI collaborates with local and national organizations to amplify our mission and to improve the lives of all New Yorkers.

In addition to its New York City focus, WPTI has also engaged in a national dialogue concerning skills building and standardizing of staff competencies for the field. It has been working with organizations in Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Newark, Boston, Denver, and San Francisco concerning curriculum development and best practice exchange. We hope this dialogue will yield grist for a national movement concerning the professionalization of the workforce development field, and better equip us for our work here in New York City.
