“You recently trained two of my two new staff persons at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation. Both of these staff came back to my agency raving about your recent iteration of the “Getting the Rap Down” program. Two critical issues lay at root of the challenge for many workforce staff about this tough issue: For one, it is very difficult to convince employers – regardless of industry – to take a chance on a person who has a felony record, regardless of the candidate’s good intentions and ability to demonstrate that they have changed. Secondly, there is so much new and evolving information about the complex legal system in New York State that it is very hard to keep abreast of new developments. The WPTI training staff was able to directly assist my team with concrete tools regarding both of these issues, and we have been able to incorporate the issues discussed at the training into our regular staff meetings here.”
