Career Coaching for Underserved Communities

Workforce development employees are often put in the position of serving as “vocational therapists” for clients with special needs and exceptional challenges. In order to build trust, the first step is to truly understand where our clients are coming from, and to have a clear picture of their strengths, interests, and capabilities.

In this session, career coaches will learn how to quickly get a sense of their clients’ skills, interests, and innate talents using widely available, free skills, interests and work readiness assessments and online resources. Career coaches will learn how to leverage these materials to develop personalized recommendations for possible career paths, training opportunities and educational programs.
