Voices Briefing – Navigating Uncertain Waters: NYC Workforce Professionals in the Age of COVID-19

WPTI is pleased to announce an upcoming briefing, scheduled for Thursday, December 9, from 9:00 – 10:30AM, following the November 30 release of our new Voices from the Frontline report, Navigating Uncertain Waters: NYC Workforce Professionals in the Age of COVID-19.

This report examines how COVID-19 has impacted the individuals providing client-facing workforce development services in New York City, and how it exacerbated structural challenges around compensation, job stability, worker morale, and more.

The report examines a range of issues, including:

  • Compensation and benefits, including financial pressures felt in the wake of COVID
  • Perceptions of job security in an uncertain economy
  • Job quality, worker morale, and the need for additional workplace support in a time of crisis
  • The impact of race and gender on workforce professionals’ experience

The briefing will feature a presentation by the report’s lead author, economist Lina Moe of the Center for New York City Affairs at the New School, along with co-author Justin Collins, Director of Field Building and Engagement at WPTI, followed by a panel discussion with leaders and experts from the field. The session will conclude with breakout sessions, where you can share your thoughts and hear from colleagues about their experiences as workforce professionals and providers during the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic crisis.

We hope you can join us! A Zoom link will be shared via email with all those who register at 5pm on Wednesday, December 8. Stay tuned!
